Researchers in the Barber Lab integrate field studies and cutting-edge genetic/genomic tools to address a wide variety of ecological and evolutionary questions in marine environments. Currently, our research is organized around several themes, including dispersal and connectivity in marine environments, the evolution of marine biodiversity, use of metabarcoding as a monitoring tool, and marine conservation. A key focus of our lab is diversifying marine science and making STEM more inclusive, through educational research focused on identifying and eliminating barriers to student success. Learn more about these efforts on our Research and Education pages.
